Major restoration of this 101 year old castle built by silk baron Catholina Lambert and now owned by Passaic County. The massive three story castle and observatory tower contain numerous unique architectural details.

Special Interests

  • Lambert Castle is listed on both the New Jersey Register and the National Register of Historic Places. The renovation was funded by the New Jersey Historic Trust and received the maximum allowable grant in the amount of $1.2 million.
  • The Castle is one of the country’s finest remaining examples of castellated residential architecture, few of which survived into the mid-twentieth century.
  • The renovated Castle houses the Passaic County Historical Society as well as the County Parks Department. The Historical Society museum, also located within Lambert Castle, has been in operation for over 60 years and has about 30,000 visitors each year.
