- Extremely complex partial demolition of an existing 11 story theatre building and reconstruction program whereby 25% of the existing floor area across the first five levels remained in order to maintain a 100’ street wall for new signage and screen
- Demanding site logistics, materials delivery, hoisting, and site safety issues constructing a building in a heavily populated pedestrian/ tourist district–the heart of Times Square
- Working in close coordination with DOB, BEST, MTA, Homeland Security, NYPD, and various other agencies
20 Times Square
The new, 378,000 SF, mixed-use retail and hospitality development project being constructed at the north east corner of 47th and Seventh Avenue in the heart of Manhattan’s Times Square. The building will comprise a 6 story retail podium containing over 70,000 SF at its base and a 42 story tower comprising a Marriott Edition Hotel with 452 guest rooms, numerous suites, and several levels dedicated to social space housing bars, restaurants, lounges, and outdoor seating and stage. Additionally, fronting Times square, the building’s entire podium will be covered with a huge electronic screen.
The Edition Brand by Marriott is a co-venture of Ian Schrager Hotels and the Marriott Hotel Corporation and is designed to provide five-star hospitality coupled with the highest level of social space and f&b amenity services. In addition, the hotels tower floors will also provide views of Midtown Manhattan, the Hudson River and Central Park.
